What does ANLP stand for?

ANLP stands for Association of Neuro-Linguistic Programming. On this website the short name is ANLP India, and the legal-style name used throughout is Association of Neuro-Linguistic Programming, India.

It is not ANLP-UK, not ANLP International, and not the National Association of NLP, India, which is a separate organisation. It is not a training marketplace: courses, schedules and fees are published by www.NLP4India.in. A short account of the field itself is on What is NLP?.

What is the role of ANLP India?

ANLP India is a professional community of NLP practitioners, trainers and educators. It exists to hold a shared identity around professional development and the practice of NLP in India — so that NLP education could sit inside a recognisable association, rather than only as isolated workshops.

It is an independent Indian professional community, not a registered company, society or trust. Practitioners and trainers continue to work as members. This website is the public home of that association: its people, its history, and its professional record. The institutional page for the same body of work is About ANLP India.

How did ANLP India develop?

ANLP India began as an India chapter of ANLP UK. Dr. David J. Lincoln began operating under the ANLP India banner in 2007. In 2008, Sushil Mehrotra joined as co-founder, organising and managing regular programmes across the country. During the same reorganisation, ANLP India became independent of ANLP UK.

In 2009, Umesh Soman became a member as a promoter of the association’s programmes. In 2010 the first trainer training in India was held in Goa; Umesh became a trainer-member, and Ralph Watson co-delivered the first ANLP India Trainer Certification. By 2015 the association had crossed 7,500 graduates, including Practitioners, Master Practitioners and Trainers. Programmes are known to have taken place in Delhi, Mumbai, Goa, Chandigarh, Hyderabad and Bangalore.

How does ANLP relate to NLP education?

ANLP India was associated with practitioner development, master practitioner training, trainer development and related applications of NLP — including coaching, communication and behavioural work. Learning those skills, and holding a certificate that names a level of that learning, are related but not the same thing.

Professional standards and certification

ANLP India was associated with certification at Practitioner, Master Practitioner, Trainer and Master Trainer levels. Members continue to hold those credentials. This website does not take applications for new certificates; programme enrolment is through www.NLP4India.in.

What those levels mean, and how they sit with training, is set out on NLP certification pathways. India’s first trainer training associated with ANLP India was held in Goa in 2010.

Membership and community

The public record of people who completed their training programme with ANLP India is the graduate register. Each row records a name, the qualification held, and a masked email. It is a register of graduates, not a directory for new applications.

How ANLP India fits the wider NLP landscape

NLP is taught in many countries, through institutes, independent trainers and professional associations. ANLP India is one Indian association in that landscape. Similar names elsewhere do not make those bodies the same organisation. The independence from ANLP UK in 2008 is part of that distinction; so is the note, in the site’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Use, that ANLP India is not affiliated with ANLP-UK, ANLP International, or the National Association of NLP, India.
