The history of ANLP India

An India chapter

ANLP India began as an India chapter of ANLP UK. Dr. David J. Lincoln, psychologist and Master Trainer of NLP, operated under the ANLP India banner. He would serve as President of the association and as a key figure in its accreditation work, working for many years from Goa and as visiting faculty.

Co-founder and independence

In 2008, Mr. Sushil Mehrotra joined Dr. David J. Lincoln as co-founder. From that point, regular NLP programmes across India were organised and managed by him — a shift from a banner to a working national calendar. During the same reorganisation, ANLP India became an independent professional community in India, separate from ANLP UK.

A member and promoter

Mr. Umesh Soman became a member of ANLP India as a promoter of the association’s programmes.

First trainer training in Goa

The first trainer training in India was held in Goa. Mr. Umesh Soman became a trainer-member. Mr. Ralph Watson, an International Master Trainer of NLP, co-delivered the first ANLP India Trainer Certification. That credential is explained on NLP Trainer certification. Dr. David J. Lincoln, Mr. Sushil Mehrotra, Mr. Ralph Watson and Mr. Umesh Soman are trainer-members forming the core committee.

A growing community

Practitioner, Master Practitioner and trainer pathways became part of professional development for people across India. Programmes are known to have taken place in:

• Mumbai
• Goa
• Chandigarh
• Hyderabad
• Bangalore

Over the years, ANLP India has trained more than 7,500 participants across its Practitioner, Master Practitioner, Trainer, NLP Diploma and other programmes. The published graduate register is a later public slice of that community, not a claim that every graduate is listed there.
